About Scott Xie
When Scott Xie immigrated to Canada in 2008, Markham Ward 6 became his very first home. Growing up on these streets, attending Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School, and earning his degree in Urban Studies from York University, Scott developed a deep personal connection to the neighbourhood. His educational background, combined with years of living, working, and volunteering in Markham, gives him a strong understanding of the city's growth, infrastructure, and local priorities.
After gaining private-sector experience in management and operations within Markham’s manufacturing sector, Scott stepped into public service as Executive Assistant to Regional Councillor Alan Ho. Far from just managing schedules, Scott worked on the front lines every day: meeting with residents, visiting senior care homes, and helping small businesses navigate permit barriers. His commitment extended beyond standard office hours, regularly responding to late-night emergency calls from residents to coordinate direct assistance from the York Regional Police.
For Scott, public service is defined by action and results. Whenever residents turned to him, they placed their trust in his ability to get things done.
Community Services:

Active Community Engagement (A.C.E.): Co-founded A.C.E. in 2021 to empower residents on local issues, including snow windrow removal, blue-bin services, and neighbourhood safety.

Frequently organizes and leads local park clean-ups, including volunteer initiatives at Berczy Park in Ward 6.

Community Giving: Collected PPE for Markham Stouffville Hospital and senior homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, while organizing fundraising efforts for Cherish Integrated Services.
Results in Public Service, worked with Regional Councillor Alan Ho:

Acted immediately on resident concerns by collaborating with City staff, Regional staff, and York Regional Police (YRP) to implement prompt solutions.

Provide hands-on support by visiting seniors and care facilities, meeting with residents, and responding to their needs in person. Assist residents and businesses in following up with the City and navigating barriers throughout the permit application process.

Successfully followed up on local infrastructure improvements, delivering new YRT bus stops, shelters, new advanced left-turn signals at several intersections, and new crosswalks.

Enhance community safety through direct collaboration with YRP and Neighbourhood Watch groups, organizing crime-prevention forums and driving a bail system reform petition.
